The Day YOU Were Born
Hi Will,
You came on a Sunday, just like your big sister Grace. I think babies who are born on Sunday must be pretty special. Another fun thing about the day you were born is it’s on Pi day. So maybe that means you’ll be a math genius. We’ll see in the coming years if you’re more a pie or cake person.
You were my first baby to be induced. We were hoping to get induced on the 12th, but due to the high amounts of births they day at the hospital they pushed it to the 14th. We were praying hard that the induction would go quickly so you wouldn’t have to share your birthday with your big sister Ella, who’s birthday is on the 15th. Thankfully the induction was fast and you both still have your own birthdays.
The fact that we could plan the induction was really nice, but overall I think I’d prefer my body to go into labor on its own. The contractions were pretty painful around a three and I decided to get an epidural around that time. Thank goodness I did because you wanted to come fast! I was dilated to a 9 within the hour. Due to Covid we thought only your dad and I could be there for the birth. But they said we could have one other person there. We chose sweet grandma Tangren to be there. She had a special dream about you before you came. She knew you’d be a boy with dark hair. She was right! It was really special for her to be there.
Most of the birth was really easy, my nurse was amazing and got my IV in on the first try. That has never happened before with any of my babies. Her name was Leah and just the best. She cheered me on through the whole birth and I was so blessed to have her there with us. The epidural went well too, a little too well according to the doctor because I couldn’t feel a thing. I even forgot how to push. It was hard. Really hard. This was the tough part of the birth for me. I felt discouraged. But with the help of daddy, grandma and the nurse I was able to push you out. You were stuck on my pelvis for a bit and had a sad elongated head with bruising when you came out. But oh that beautiful dark hair and dimples! You were a cutie Will!
We spent two nights in the hospital due to my bad tear. It was a nice time being together as a little family, we sure missed the girls though. You weren’t the best eater in the hospital, unless it was on your terms, which for you was every 5 hours. Very minimal crying and just the sweetest thing. You passed all your screenings with flying colors until the bilirubin test was done. You came back as high risk and they threw you under the Bili lights fast! You were so sweet and took it like a champ for an additional 3 days! We couldn’t swaddle you, but thank goodness for our little snuggle me bed to help you feel snuggled. Whenever we weren’t feeding you, you had to be under the lights. The doctor said you’d probably
He fussy and we couldn’t take you out, but you weren’t. You were very calm and chill and made the whole experience rather pleasant. So thanks Will! At your checkout, your weight was great, your bili levels were down and you had your tongue clipped because it was very tongue tied. You were a champ through it all and an amazing breast eating baby! Which makes me very happy!
We are just so in love with you Will. You already have a special place in my heart. I know that through the years we’ll be there for each other. I want you to always know you are loved and how much your mom and dad love you.
Xoxo
Mom
